Central, SC – The Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) Women's Basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Ahrianna Scott. Scott, a 5-5 guard, from Anderson, S.C. and Westside High School comes to SWU from Erskine College and makes the ninth member of the 26-27 class.
"Ahrianna adds a veteran presence to our backcourt after being a part of our conference these last two years," commented Head Women's Basketball Coach John Davis. "Ahrianna wants to grow in her faith and wants to help push us competitively. I believe she will make this experience about making basketball a ministry and I am excited for her about that."
Scott was a 2-time state champion at Westside High School in Anderson before playing her last two years at Erskine. She played in 52 games and started in 43 of those, while averaging 10.28 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.67 assists and 1.48 steals per game over two seasons. She made 105 3-pointers during that time and shot 66% from the free throw line. Scott was 6th in Conference Carolinas last season in minutes played (34.6) and was 9th in made 3-pointers per game at 1.8.
"I chose SWU not only for the basketball components but everything outside of the game," stated Scott. "SWU allows me to grow in my faith. It allows me to grow as a person and it offers a major that I want to pursue a career in. I chose SWU because it allows me to chase all those things all while being surrounded by a group of people who believe "we" over "me" mindset which is a mindset that allows me to be a part of something that is bigger than myself."
