Central, SC – The Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) Women's Basketball program has announced the signing of their fifth member of the 2026-2027 class in D.W. Daniel High School star Braelin Cumbie. Cumbie, from Clemson, S.C., played for SWU alumni and former women's basketball student-athlete Cosandar Wilson throughout her high school career.
"We are blessed to have a commit like Braelin join our program," commented Head Women's Basketball coach John Davis. "Braelin is a fierce competitor, a good athlete and works hard to get better. She is driven to make us better in our Christ-centered culture, while helping us competitively and has proven to lead in this manner."
Cumbie was a 3-time All-Region selection, Pickens County All-County Team, Pickens County Player of the Year, Upstate All-Star and also a North-South All-Star participant. She helped lead her team to 3 consecutive Region Championships and they were 25-2 this past year. Cumbie averaged 13.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game.
"I chose SWU because I think it will help me grow in my faith and become a better player and person on-and-off the court," stated Cumbie.
