Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) Head Women's Basketball coach John Davis is pleased to announce the fourth signing for the 2026-2027 class in Alyssa Kiel. Kiel, a 5-10 forward, comes to the Warriors from Mancelona, Mich. and Kirtland Community College.
"I chose SWU because I am ready to adventure out, meet new people who will challenge and support me, and grow into the player and person God is calling me to be," commented Kiel. "I'm truly grateful for this opportunity, and I feel blessed to continue my basketball journey at Southern Wesleyan."
This past season, Kiel averaged 10.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 42.7% from the field and 72.7% from the free throw line. In two years, she has started in 41 of 47 games for the Firebirds and she earned Northern Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference this season. Kiel was also named the Offensive MVP for her team.
"Alyssa brings us a veteran presence with having a lot of court time over the last two years at Kirtland," stated Davis. "We are excited to have Alyssa join our campus community and women's basketball program. She has a desire to impact our Christ-centered culture and to grow us competitively, which stood out during the recruiting process. We are excited for the value that we believe Alyssa will bring to Southern Wesleyan."
