Childs Field
Childs Field was named after J.B. Childs and built during the mid-1960's and houses the men's and women's soccer teams, and the women's lacrosse team. The facility is located just below campus near Bryant Lodge on Thomas Lane.
Childs Field has a natural grass bank seating with most of the work being completed by volunteers. Men's soccer opened play on the field in 1973. Softball followed by playing in 1986 for six years. Temporary fencing was put in place during softball games for the spring. A fieldhouse was constructed in 2008 that included locker-rooms for both soccer teams. In 2018, Childs Field became the home of the women's lacrosse program as well.
Private gifts and university funding helped with construction. Restrooms were added recently adjacent to the team locker rooms.Â
In the summer of 2024, Southern Wesleyan added permanent covered home and away team bench areas. The renovations to the facility continued in the summer of 2025 as the press box was inclosed and a concrete pad was added besides it for athletic training.
