Myrtle Beach, SC – Southern Wesleyan took fifth place as a team in the Conference Carolinas Championship this weekend. After two First Team All-Conference finishes in the hurdles, Happy Lea was named the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year.

Track Results
110mh: Happy Lea qualified for the finals in the preliminaries after he took second with a time of 14.80. In the finals, Lea pushed ahead to claim the first place title with a time of 14.32.
200m: Jaden Warner took 21st with a time of 22.56 in the preliminaries.
400m: In the preliminaries of the 400 meters, Nate Hill took third with a time of 49.00 to qualify for the finals. Solomon Pitts finished in 14th place with a time of 48.91.
400mh: Happy Lea led the Warriors in the preliminaries of the 400 meter hurdles as he took second with a time of 55.54 to qualify for the finals. Eli Powell finished in 16th with a time of 1:02.33. In the finals, Happy Lea led the whole field with a time of 53.82 to take first.
800m: In the preliminaries of the 800 meters, Dustyn Scruggs took 2nd with a time of 1:55.70 to qualify for the finals. Nate Hill also qualified for the finals with a time of 1:56.35 to take sixth. Ethan Marchman finished in ninth with a time of 1:57.03. In the finals, Dustyn Scruggs took fifth with a time of 1:55.26 and Nate Hill finished in 8th with a time of 2:04.78.
1500m: The Warriors were led by Ronan O'Neill in the preliminaries as he took sixth place with a time of 4:04.39 to qualify for the finals. He was closely followed by Grady Clark in eighth with a time of 4:04.41 to also qualify for the finals. In the finals, Clark took 5th place with a time of 4:07.69. He was followed by O'Neill with a time of 4:10.77 to take 11th.
3000m Steeple: In the steeplechase, Drew Jones took 5th with a time of 9:57.37. Jones was followed by Jesse Sauve who took 9th with a time of 10:09.58.
5000m: Ronan O'Neill took second place in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:14.97. O'Neill was followed by Drew Jones who took seventh with a time of 15:33.40. Kaden Reeder and Grady Clark were the next two Warriors to finish. Reeder took 21st with a time of 16:26.74 and Clark finished in 23rd with a time of 16:36.36. Taking 25th in the championship was Grayson Gillespie who finished with a time of 16:40.24.
10000m: In the 10000 meters, Ronan O'Neill took second place with a time of 31.20.83. O'Neill was followed by Kaden Reeder in 12th place with a time of 34.11.38.
4x100m Relay: In the 4x100 meter relay, the Warriors team of Aziah Gaskin, Jaden Warner, Dominic Gonzalez and Solomon Pitts took ninth with a time of 42.88.
4x400m Relay: The Warriors' team of Ethan Marchman, Solomon Pitts, Dustyn Scruggs, and Nate Hill took fifth with a time of 3:18.14.
Field Results
Discus: Mason Griffiths took 17th with a throw of 37.61 meters.
High Jump: In the high jump, Ethan Shoemaker led the whole field in the high jump as he cleared a height of 1.99 meters to give him a first place finish. He was followed by Isaiah Gamble in 14th with a jump of 1.84 meters.
Javelin: Happy Lea took sixth in the javelin as he threw a distance of 47.59 meters. Lea was followed by Mason Griffiths in 14th after he threw 39.54 meters. Eli Powell and Rusty Chappell were the next two Warriors to finish. Powell took 19th with a throw of 34.60m and Chappell took 20th with a throw of 28.05 meters.
