Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan is excited to announce Ethan Shimmel of SWU Baseball as this week's Mug Shot Coffee Athlete of the Week.

Ethan Shimmel, a junior out of Windsor, PA, opened up the week at Augusta by going 1 for 5 at the plate.  He went on to come in to score one run and picked up two RBIs in the game.

Shimmel shone during the Warriors three game sweep over the Chowan Hawks over the weekend.  In the series opener he went 1 for 4 while coming in to score two times and driving in one run. 

He went on to go 4 for 4 at the plate in the Warriors second win of the series.  During that game, he had five RBIs and came in to score five times.  Shimmel recorded his first multi-home run game of the season as he had two home runs.  He also posted a double in the second game.

Shimmel wrapped up the series against Chowan by going 3 for 7 at the plate.  Of his three hits in the game, two were multi-base hits in the form of doubles.  He accumulated four RBIs in the game and came in to score one run.

Throughout the week, Shimmel went 9 for 20 at the plate.  He drove in 12 RBIs and came in to score nine runs for the Warriors.  The junior had two home runs and three doubles over the course of the four games.
