How It Happened

Georgia College was first on the board as an error at second allowed Carson Phillips to come in to score.

The Bobcats extended on their lead in the top of the second inning as, with the bases loaded, Carson Phillips walked on nine pitches.

Southern Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the second inning.  With one out, Kade Bowling hit a single into left field.  Bowling then stole second before advancing to third as Perry Dyer hit a single to the shortstop.  Dyer then stole second base and Luke Taylor walked to load up the bases for Harrison Garrett.  Garrett walked on five pitches to bring Bowling in to score the Warriors first run of the game.  A sacrifice fly off the bat of Matthew McCaffrey allowed Dyer to come in to score to tie he game up at two.

Georgia College regained the lead in the third inning as Carson Phillips was hit by a pitch to allow Cole Huddleston to cross home plate.

The Warriors were not done as they scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Perry Dyer led off by reaching first on four pitches.  Dyer then advanced to second as Luke Taylor laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Harrison Garrett sent the ball through the left side for a single that brought Dyer in to score.

In the fifth inning, the Bobcats went on the offensive again as Carson Vick hit a single up the middle to allow Carson Phillips to come in to score.

Georgia College would not relent as a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carson Phillips and a double by Blake Bellflower allowed two runs to come in to score in the top of the seventh inning.

Southern Wesleyan rallied in the bottom of the eighth innings.  Perry Dyer led off the inning by hitting a single into left field.  Luke Taylor followed by taking a five pitch walk.  Harrison Garrett laid down a sacrifice bunt to allow both Dyer and Taylor to advance a base.  Josh Long came in to pinch hit for Matthew McCaffrey and walked to load up the bases for Tristan Tillman.  Tillman battled it out at the plate to force a full count.  Griffin Davis was unable to strike out Tillman as his next pitch was a ball to allow Tillman to take first and bring Dyer in to score.  Nolan Evatt hit a sacrifice fly out to center field to bring Taylor in to score to put the Warriors within one run of the Bobcats.

However, Georgia College fought back as a two run home run by Luke Boone and then a series of walks allowed the Bobcats to claim the game in a 10-5 final score.
