Greenwood, SC – Southern Wesleyan finished in a tie for eighth place in the Greenwood Invitational on Tuesday. Owen Kinnunen tied for first in the tournament, while Kieran Parkins joined him in the top 20 with a 17th place finish.

How It Happened
Owen Kinnunen led the whole field during the Greenwood Invitational. After shooting one under par in the first round with a 71, Kinnunen shot three under par for a 69 in round two. He continued his impressive tournament as he shot seven under par in the final round for a 65. Tied with Bryce Wheeler of Grand Valley for first, Owen Kinnunen and Wheeler faced off for a playoff hole. Kinnunen could not pass Wheeler to claim the tournament champion title. He finished in a tie for first with a total round score of 205, eleven under par.
He was followed in the tournament by Kieran Parkins. Parkins went two over par in the first round with a 74. However, he battled back in the second round as he shot a 71. The native of England was not done as he shot three under par for a 69 in the final round to give him a total round score of 214. He finished in a tie for 17th place.
Finishing in 57th in the Greenwood Invitational was Andrew Baxley. Baxley shot even with a 72 in round one of the tournament. In the next two rounds of the tournament, he shot scores of 75 to give him a total round score of 222.
Ben Sanders was the next Warrior to finish in the tournament. Sanders shot a 78 in the first round. He battled back in the second round as he shot just one over par with a 73. In the final round, Sanders shot a 74 to give him a total round score of 225. He went on to finish in a tie for 71st place.
Wrapping up the field for the Warriors was Landon Smith. Smith shot a 79 in the first round. He then shot a 78 in the second round before shooting a 75 in the final round to give him a total round score of 232. Smith finished in a tie for 95th place.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Tigerville, SC on March 23-24 to take part in the Cherokee Invitational hosted by North Greenville. They will then travel to Miami Shores, FL on March 30-31 to compete in the Battle at the Lakes. On April 6-7, the Warriors will compete in the Chowan Intercollegiate in Ahoskie, NC.
