Columbia, SC – Southern Wesleyan took several top ten finishes in the Gamecock Opener on Saturday. They were led by first place finishes by both Dustyn Scruggs (1000 meters) and Grady Clark (mile).

Track Results
60m | Alex Davis took 32nd in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.62.
60mh | Caleb Stephan took eighth in the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries after he finished in 8.49 to qualify for the semi-finals. He continued to impress in the semi-finals as his time of 8.55 allowed him to take eighth and claim the final spot to advance to the finals. Stephan finished in sixth place with a time of 8.43 in the finals.
200m | In the 200 meter dash, senior Jaden Warner finished in 18th with a time of 22.59.
300m | Reed Rabon and Alex Davis each competed in the 300 meters for the Warriors. Rabon finished in 23rd with a time of 37.84 while Davis took 26th with a time of 38.94.
400m | The Warriors were led in the 400 meters by Caleb Stephan who took ninth place with a time of 49.91. Behind him, Jaden Warner finished in 17th with a time of 52.21. Andre Kelly III wrapped up the field for the Warriors as he took 21st with a time of 53.93.
600m | Dustyn Scruggs led the Warriors in the 600 meter run as he took fifth place with a time of 1:22.95. Also finishing in the top ten in the race was Grady Clark who took 10th with a time of 1:28.97.
800m | In the 800 meters, Ethan Marchman finished just shy of first place as his time of 1:58.20 put him in second place. Behind him, Nate Hill took fifth with a time of 2:01.02 and JT Locke took ninth with a time of 2:24.10.
1000m | Dustyn Scruggs led the whole field in the 1000 meter run on Saturday. He took first with a time of 2:34.28. Coming in sixth in the race was Andre Kelly III who finished in 2:48.46. Justin South took 11th with a time of 3:10.29.
Mile | In the mile, Grady Clark led the whole field as his time of 4:23.64 allowed him to secure first. Seconds behind him, Ronan O'Neill took fourth with a time of 4:30.66. Alex Howerton took tenth with a time of 5:01.03.
3000m | Senior Ronan O'Neill took third place in the 3000 meter run with his time of 8:49.89. Right behind him were Grayson Gillespie and Kaden Reeder. Gillespie finished in fourth place with a time of 8:54.53 and Reeder took sixth with a time of 9:09.54.
Field Results
High Jump | Junior Ethan Shoemaker finished in the top ten in the high jump as he cleared a height of 1.85 meters to secure ninth. He was followed by Isaiah Gamble who took eleventh after clearing 1.80 meters.
Shot Put | In the shot put, Mason Griffiths took 23rd with his throw of 9.35 meters.
Weight Throw | Mason Griffiths claimed fifteenth in the weight throw after throwing a distance of 10.21 meters.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel up to Winston-Salem, NC on January 17 to compete in the JDL College Team Challenge. They will then compete in Lynchburg, VA on January 30-31 in Liberty's Brant Tolsma Invitational. The Warriors will return to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem on February 14.
