Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Anderson Trojans on Tuesday evening in a 12-5 final score.
The Warriors had seven hits in the game with both Gage Shaver and Nolan Evatt picking up two hits. Cam Mitchem homered and Evatt hit a double. The lone RBIs came off the bats of Mitchem and Jarrett Whitley. Mitchem led the team with two RBIs. Southern Wesleyan walked five times, and both Tristan Tillman and Marty Grisso stole bases.
Kamden Mongan started on the mound for Southern Wesleyan and pitched three innings while only allowing two hits. Seven Warriors came in to pitch in relief. Gehrig Schreiber led the team with two strikeouts in the game. Logan Brazell picked up a single strikeout.

How It Happened
Anderson took the first run of the game as Ketchin doubled to left field to lead off the top of the first inning. After advancing to third, Ketchin came in to score as Bullard hit a deep fly ball to center field.
The Warriors tied the game up in the bottom of the inning. Tristan Tillman reached first after being beamed in the helmet by the ball. Tillman then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. On a passed ball, Tillman slid into home plate to tie the game up at one.
The Trojans regained the lead in the top of the second inning as a ground out by Caccamise allowed Stover to come in to score.
However, Southern Wesleyan took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Marty Grisso knocked a single into left field and then advanced to second on a single by Nolan Evatt. Grisso stole third base to get into scoring position. Jarrett Whitley put the ball into play to third base. Mauro attempted to throw the ball in to the catcher, but Grisso got underneath the tag to score and tie the game up. With one out, Tristan Tillman hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Evatt to advance to third, but took Whitley off the base pads. A balk allowed Evatt to come in to score and allowed Tillman to advance to second. Cam Mitchem came up to the plate and sent the ball just over the left field fence for a two run blast to give the Warriors a 5-2 run advantage.
Anderson attempted to cut into Southern Wesleyan's lead, but Jack Dennison caught a deep fly out to left field and then Tristen Tillman snagged a line out to short to prevent the Trojans' attack at the plate from leading to more runs.
The Trojans attacks paid off in the top of the fourth inning as a ground out by Wilson allowed Stover to come in to score to put Anderson back within two runs of the Warriors. However, Tristan Tillman collected a ground out and sent it over to Cam Mitchem to keep Anderson from cutting further into Southern Wesleyan's lead.
Anderson tied the game up in the top of the fifth inning as an error and then a sacrifice fly out brought two runs in to score. The Trojans brought more runs in to score in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Anderson went on to take the game in a 12-5 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will hit the road to Rome, GA on February 28 and March 1 as they take on the Shorter Hawks. They will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor on March 4 to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at 5pm. Southern Wesleyan will host the Chowan Hawks on March 7-8.
