Warriors Finish Indoor Season in Fifth

Winston-Salem, NC – Southern Wesleyan claims fifth in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championship on Sunday as they collected 39 team points.

 

How It Happened

Track

60 Meter Hurdles : In the 60 meter hurdles, Leonard Holmes finished in second place with a time of 8.16.  His time allowed him to set a new school record.

60 Meters : Bryce Bennett took 13th in the preliminaries of the 60 meters.  He finished with a time of 7.07.  Behind Bennett, senior Jannai Maxwell took 18th with a time of 7.23.

Mile : Michael Griffin led the Warriors in the mile as he took sixth with a time of 4:36.25.

800 Meters : In the 800 meters, Jacob Harris took 18th with a time of 2:13.04.  He was followed by teammate Kaleb Jackson in 19th with a time of 2:22.86.

3000 Meters : Konnor Palacios was the first Warrior to finish in the 3000 meters as he crossed the finish line with a time of 9.27.03

5000 Meters : Peyton Shelton finished in 10th place during the 5000 meters.  The sophomore finished the race with a time of 16:49.74.

4000 Meter Distance Medley Relay : The Warriors took third in the relay as the team of Michael Griffin, Dymitric Ray, Jacob Harris and Konnor Palacios finished with a time of 10:52.01.  Their time allowed them to set a new school record.

4x400 Meter Relay : Southern Wesleyan took fourth place in the 4x400 meter relay.  The team of Dymitric Ray, Jannai Maxwell, Jacob Harris and Kaleb Jackson finished with a time of 3:35.08.

 

Field

Weight Throw : Christian Swindle led the Warriors in the weight throw as his throw of 14.23 meters allowed him to take seventh.  He was followed by teammate Keauntai Robinson in 11th with a time of 13.68 meters.

Long Jump : In the long jump, Bryce Bennett took eighth with a distance of 6.60 meters.

Shot Put : Keauntai Robinson set a new school record in the shot put as he led the Warriors with a throw of 14.16 meters.  His throw allowed him to finish in fifth place.  Robinson was followed by Christian Swindle in 12th with a throw of 12.07 meters.

High Jump : Southern Wesleyan was led by Chandler Whittle as he cleared a height of 1.97 meters to claim first place and set a new school record.  He was followed by Johnny Bogert in ninth place with a height of 1.78 meters.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will open up the outdoor season on March 20-21 as they take part in the CSU Spring Break Invitational.  They will then take part in the USC Weems Baskin on March 27-28.
