Coach Davis says…

"Unfortunately, the final score was not indicative on how we competed.  I felt we came out in the second half and played hard and made some good plays in that third quarter.  Giving them 24 offensive rebounds hurt us."

How It Happened

The Saints struck first as Reagan McCray made a jump shot, but the lead was short lived as a jump shot by Emily Waters allowed the Warriors to tie it up 2-2.  Limestone regained the lead, but Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure with a layup by Lisana Burnett to tie it once more.  The Saints continued to push past the Warriors defense, taking an 11-4 point advantage on a layup by Schekinah Bimpa.

Aneysa Williams kicked off the second quarter for the Warriors with a layup to put them down 18-10 to the Saints.  Made free throw baskets by Brooke Henricks and a jump shot by Emily Waters allowed Southern Wesleyan to cut Limestone's lead down to five points with just over seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.  The Warriors and Saints continued to battle back and forth, but a layup by Charlotte Terry put the Saints up 40-22 at the half.

Southern Wesleyan would not be discouraged as Emily Waters kicked off the third quarter with a jump shot to put the Warriors down 40-24.  Limestone countered with a layup of their own, but Southern Wesleyan persisted as Brooke Henricks made a layup to keep the Warriors within sixteen points.  Despite another layup by Henricks, Limestone began to pull away as Regan McCray made a 3-pointer to give them a twenty point lead.  The Warriors continued to pressure, with baskets by Tanayja Williams and Denisha Hall to make the score 57-42.

Limestone struck first in the final quarter as Alexis Armstrong made a layup and Josie Long sunk a three to put them ahead 64-42.  The Warriors countered with a jump shot by Emily Waters to keep them within twenty.  Limestone pushed their lead to 75-47 with layups by Bimpa and McCray.  The Warriors continued to fight as Aneysa Williams sunk a three and Lisana Burnett stole the ball away from the Saints to lay it up and make the score 77-54.  Despite a three pointer by Caroline Reese, the Warriors dropped the game in a 90-59 final score.
