Columbia, SC – The Warriors competed well in a strong field at the Gamecock Opener this weekend.
How It Happened
Track
60 Meter Hurdles : Leonard Holmes took sixth in the 60 Meter Hurdles finals with a time of 8.43.
200 Meters : Senior Jannai Maxwell led the Warriors in the 200 meters. He took 93rd with a time of 23.53.
300 Meters : Dymitric Ray led the Warriors in the 300 Meters, taking 11th with a time of 36.03. He was followed by Thomas Williams with a time of 36.30 for 13th and Shonquez Caldwell with a time of 36.34 for 14th. Jannai Maxwell took 16th as he crossed the finish line with a time of 36.44. In 27th, Leonard Holmes finished with a time of 37.43. Following Holmes, Jordan Blue finished in 32nd with a 38.36 and Fredrick Carson took 40th with a 39.90.
400 Meters : Finishing the 400 meters, Kaleb Jackson finished in 92nd with a time of 56.26.
800 Meters : In the 800 meters, Konnor Palacios took 47th with a 2:04.23.
1 Mile : Konnor Palacios was the first Warrior across the finish line in the mile. He took 23rd with a time of 4:36.45. He was followed by Michael Griffin in 31st with a time of 4:41.63 and Jacob Harris in 38th with a time of 4:57.18. Peyton Shelton followed in 42nd with a time of 5:01.81. Coming in 45th, Casey Frock finished with a time of 5:09.37.
3000 Meters : Finishing in 51st in the 3000 meters, Peyton Shelton crossed the finish line with a time of 9:59.54.
4x400 Meter Relay : The Warriors took 20th in the 4x400 meter relay as the team of Jacob Harris, Michael Griffin, Casey Frock and Konnor Palacios finished with a time of 3:42.63.
Field
Long Jump : Bryce Bennett was one of the leaders of the field in the long jump. Bennett's jump of 6.97 meters allowed him to finish in third place.
High Jump : In the high jump, Chandler Whittle took 11th with his jump of 1.83 meters.
Shot Put : The Warriors were led by Keauntai Robinson in the shot put. His throw of 11.57 meters allowed him to finish in 28th place. He was followed by Christian Swindle in 30th with a throw of 11.21 meters.
Weight Throw : Christian Swindle led Southern Wesleyan in the weight throw. His throw of 12.77 meters allowed him to finish in 21st place. He was followed by Keauntai Robinson with a throw of 12.07 meters to put him in 26th.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next compete in the ETSU Buccaneer Classic on January 31 and February 1. They will then return to Columbia, SC to take part in the USC South Carolina Invitational on February 7-8. They will close out the regular indoor season on February 13 at the JDL College Team Challenge. The Conference Carolinas Indoor Championship will be on February 23.
