Breanna Richardson lead the Warriors in today's game with 21 points, while also drawing 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Tatiana Manuel also produced double digits, scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Erika Wesolek contributed 14 points and 3 rebounds, while Aneysa Williams had 12 points and 4 rebounds.

The Warriors struck first this afternoon in their third conference game against Erskine College with a jump shot from Aneysa Williams. The Flying Fleet quickly responded tying the game 2-2. The first half of the game was very tight – both teams scoring back-and-forth. Erskine was able to gain momentum in the second quarter and pushed to a 47-32 lead going into halftime.

The Warriors again jumped out and scored the first basket of the second half with a layup from Breanna Richardson. The Fleet then regained their momentum and pushed their lead to 51-36. The Warriors continued to battle by hitting a 3-pointer from Williams followed by a jump shot from Richardson and another 3-pointer from Erika Wesolek. By the end of the third quarter, SWU had made the score a 4-point deficit.

Going into the fourth quarter, Wesolek made a layup to put the Warriors within 2 points. With both teams making shots, a layup from Cayse Branyon put the score at 70-69, the Warriors just trailing by one. Tomi Sanchez was able to draw a foul and making both of her shots to put the Warriors ahead for the first time in the second half at 71-70. The Warriors were unable to hold the lead much longer before the Flying Fleet went ahead to win 88-78.

"From an effort standpoint I could not be more proud of our group in the second half," said Head Women's Basketball Coach John Davis.  "We really played hard and gave us a chance to win the game taking a one point lead in the fourth quarter.  Taking care of the basketball is a big issue right now.  We are giving away possessions by us being careless with the basketball and we need to fix that."

The Warriors fall 2-5 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.  The Erskine College Flying Fleet are now 2-5 and 1-2 in Conference Carolina action. The Southern Wesleyan women's basketball team will take a week off from conference play to prepare for their next home game against King University on Saturday, December 10 at 2 p.m.
