Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan's men's soccer team was completely dominant in a 7-0 win over Toccoa Falls College on Saturday night at Childs Field. With the win, the Warriors move to 3-1 and the Screaming Eagles fall to 0-6.
Right out of the gate, Michel Herszenhout put the Warriors on the board as he scored 5:47 into the game. Minutes later he added another to stretch the lead to 2-0. Christian Taylor and Ivan Malagon got in on the scoring action, scoring goals within three minutes of each other around 30 minutes into the game. Both goals were assisted by Marcelo Vargas. The Warriors took the 4-0 lead into the half.
Vargas then scored a goal of his own at the 74:02 mark, the first of three goals scored within the next 1:26. Fernando Posada and Herszenhout added the sixth and seventh goals for the team, clinching a hat trick for Herszenhout. Herszenhout's third goal was assisted by Abraham Arredondo.
"I'm happy with our performance tonight," said head coach Camilo Rodriguez. " It's always good to score some goals and get some confidence. Now, we must get ready for our game Wednesday, the start of conference play."
The Warriors return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16 at home against King College. Women's soccer plays King at 5 p.m. and the men's game is set for 7 p.m.
