Greenville, SC – Conference Carolinas announced the 2025 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Major Award Winners on November 7. Southern Wesleyan was among those recognized as Matias Garnier was awarded a spot on the All-Conference First Team as a defender.
A sophomore out of San Jose, Costa Rica, Garnier transferred into Southern Wesleyan last spring after the 2024 season. The week of September 9, Garnier was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after he score his first collegiate goal in the Warriors 2-0 victory over the Emory & Henry Wasps.
Throughout the 2025 season, he has not only anchored the Warriors back-line, but has also led the Warriors in scoring. In the Warriors 4-0 goal victory over USC Aiken, the sophomore had his first collegiate brace. He went on to pick up his first collegiate hat trick in the Warriors 6-1 goal victory over the Shorter Hawks on September 27. Garnier concluded the season with eight goals and two assists for a total of 18 points.
