How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan struck first, as just two minutes into the first half, Leonardo Flores drove to the net and put the ball into the lower left corner of the goal.  Gabriel Melendez crossed the ball into the lower corner of the box and Flores attempted to get the ball into the net a second time, but Brallam Cux-Cuin was able to quickly block the attack.  Flores attempted a bicycle kick goal, but it just missed the top of the net.  Shorter looked to tie game up as Issac Cruz put up a shot, but Luke Bramblett was there to knock it away.  Luis Lezama looked to extend on the Warriors lead, but the Hawks were able to knock the ball at the last second.  With just over a minute left on the clock, Sebastian Zumbado took a shot on the net, but Cux-Cuin was there to collect the ball.

The Hawks answered in the second half as, just two minutes into play, Joao Beer collected a pass from Luis Romero and got the ball into the net.  Sebastian Zumbado looked to allow the Warriors to regain the lead as he put up a shot on the net.  However, Brallam Cux-Cuin was able to block his attack.  Michael Boyle wove around the defense and looked for the net, but once again Cux-Cuin was able to collect the ball.  Once again, Zumbado looked for the goal, but his shot ricocheted off the post and over the top of the net.  The Hawks answered as Michael Fetterolf took a shot on the net, but it flew over the top of the net.  After a free kick by the Hawks, Boyle collected the ball and drilled it toward the net, but Cux-Cuin was there to knock it away.  However, Shorter pressed on as a last second goal by Levi Trevino allowed the Hawks to win the game in a 2-1 final.
