BRISTOL, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer dropped a 4-1 decision to King (Tenn.) University on Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas tilt.
The Warriors (2-10, 1-7 CC) managed just four shots in the match while the Tornado took 29, putting 17 on goal. Maggie McMenimen netted her first goal of the season and first since 2012 in the 88th minute, putting a cross in from the deep corner that bounced off the post and into the goal. Ashleigh Kelley notched her first career assist on the goal.
SWU's Krista Anonie made a season-high 13 saves despite the losing effort. It was the third time in seven starts that the junior has made double digit saves in a game. King's duo of Olivia Drake and Nicole Dagher faced only three shots on goal in the match with Dagher making both saves.
King's offense produced 29 shots including seven from Rachel Thrope who also scored a goal. Four different players accounted for the goals for the Tornado.
The Warriors return to Childs Field to play in front of the home crowd this weekend during Homecoming by hosting North Greenville on Saturday at 3 p.m.
