Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped a hard fought battle against the Barry Buccaneers on Wednesday evening in a 2-0 final score.
The Warriors picked up 14 shots with nine being on target. Madison Stanley led the team with two shots on goal. Hannah Weidner and Ester Carabano split time in goal for Southern Wesleyan. Carabano had eight saves while Weidner had five.

How It Happened
The Buccaneers went on the offensive early on as Ronya Halleen took a shot on the net, but Hannah Weidner was able to collect each their attacks on the net. Southern Wesleyan answered as Madison Stanley wove around the Barry defense, but Marlen Hernandez was able to thwart her two attacks on the net. The Warriors continued their challenges as Addison Mack and Izabel Berlinski each looked for the net, but Hernandez was there each time.
Brianna Gonzalez put up a shot early in the second half, but Marlen Hernandez continued to collect each of the Warriors' balls. Barry answered as they peppered the goal with shots, but Ester Carabano kept defending the back line. As Ronya Halleen put up a shot, Carabano knocked the ball away, but Olivia Bradley was there to knock the ball back into the goal to give the Buccaneers the advantage. Barry was not done as Allyssia Merisier scored off a through ball by Halleen. Southern Wesleyan continued to attack the net, but shots by Karina Pashkovets, Lucia Fernandez and Ella Beasley were collected by Hernandez. Barry went on to win the game in a 2-0 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will open up Conference Carolinas action on the road as they travel to Young Harris, GA to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions on September 5 at 1pm. They will return to Central, SC on September 9 to host the Bob Jones Bruins at 5pm. The Warriors will welcome the Barton Bulldogs to Childs Field on September 12.
