SWU Women's Basketball Falls to No. 24 Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's basketball was no match for the No. 24 team in NCAA II, falling to Limestone 114-84 on Saturday afternoon.


The Warriors (1-2) suffered their second straight loss, both on the road on Saturday.  Freshman Cayse Branyon continues to lead the offensive output, scoring a team-high 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting.  She made 7-of-8 from the free throw line and both three-point attempts.  Branyon nearly recorded a double-double with nine rebounds.


Limestone (1-0) shot nearly 60-percent (48-81) from the floor and three players scored 20 or more points.  Celestra Warren led all players with 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting.  She also grabbed 12 rebounds.
SWU put up their fair share of points with five players reaching double digits.  Bri Seda scored 13 points off the bench as did Christiana Perkins.  Kiara Coleman and Michelle Anaya added 11 and 10 points respectively.

 
The Warriors shot just 41-percent from the floor but managed to get to the line 35 times, making 27.  Limestone was 13-of-23 from the charity stripe.  Limestone was dominate on the glass with a 52-32 advantage.  They grabbed 18 offensive rebounds.


SWU hung with Limestone for the first four minutes but a 20-4 run over the next four minutes put the margin at 21.  The Warriors trailed 63-37 at the half and managed to stay close in the second half scoring, with Limestone scoring 51 after the break and SWU 47.


The Warriors will conclude their four-game road trip with an exhibition contest at Charleston Southern on Tuesday before coming home to open SSAC action on Friday and Saturday.
