SWU Soccer Advances in NCCAA Regional

Box Score

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan men's soccer advanced in the NCCAA South Region Tournament on Wednesday with a 4-2 win over Point University.

The Warriors (10-6-2) got two goals from Douglas Andrade to give him 11 on the season.  Andrade found the back of the net in the 52nd minute and again in the 78th to give SWU some breathing room after Point had pulled to within one with a Alex Fuentes goal in the 76th minute.  That cut the lead from 3-1 to 3-2 but Andrade's goal put it back at a two goal difference.

Raul Canelos scored the first goal for the Warriors in the 32nd minute and the 1-1 score would hold until halftime.  Alejandro Sanzhez added the fourth goal for the Warriors.  Bruno Liozzi was in the mix throughout the match, assisting on both Andrade goals and Sanchez's.  Richie Barbetty and Joao Oliveira also picked up assists.

Zack Wilson made four saves in goal for the Warriors in his second start of the season.  The Warriors fired off 20 shots while Point mustered just half that many.

The Warriors advance to the semifinals to face Emmanuel on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
