Young Harris, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped a heart breaker in the final seconds of the game to the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Tuesday evening in a 3-2 final score.
The Warriors had seven shots with four being on target in the game. Both Brody Schroeder and Matias Garnier had two shots on goal. They went on to both have the goals in the match. Juan Daniel Rosales picked up the assist. Luke Bramblett played all ninety minutes in the goal and had two saves.

How It Happened
The Mountain Lions went on the offensive within the first eight minutes of the match as Leho Le Louarn attempted a shot, but the Warriors' defense blocked his ball from finding the net. Young Harris would not relent as Thomas Kleinpenning and Filip Zander took back-to-back shots on the goal. However, Luke Bramblett dove on top of the ball to prevent the Mountain Lions from taking the early lead. The Warriors went on the offensive, but the Mountain Lions blocked their attack on the goal. Brody Schroeder drove around the defense and sent the ball into the net, but Stathis Paplomatas jumped up to prevent the ball from going up into the top corner of the net. Juan Daniel Rosales took a free kick and sent the ball all the way into the box, but the Mountain Lions' defense was able to head the ball away from the net to keep the Warriors off the board. Southern Wesleyan was awarded a corner kick that Matias Garnier controlled and sent the ball toward the net, but once again Paplomatas was there to keep the Warriors off the board. Despite challenges on both sides of the field, the Warriors and Mountain Lions remained in a 0-0 draw at halftime.
The Mountain Lions had the kick-off in the second half and quickly took the ball down the field. However, Luke Bramblett and the Warriors back line would not let their attack find the net. Southern Wesleyan answered as they took the ball down the field, but Young Harris was there to stop the ball and force the turnover. Thomas Kleinpenning crossed the ball right in front of the goal, but Bramblett dove on top of the ball to prevent another Mountain Lions from getting the ball into the net. Luis Lezama crossed the ball over to the box off a corner kick right to Andreas Christodoulou. Christodoulou put in a shot, but his shot just missed to the left of the net. The Warriors maintained their pressure as Brody Schroeder drove to the net, but his shot missed just left of the net. Kleinpenning took a long range shot in an attempt to test Bramblett and the Warriors, but it missed just high of the net. Young Harris scored the first goal of the game as Thomas Kleinpenning took a corner kick and then Ignacio Arribere got the ball in to give them a 1-0 lead. The Warriors looked to answer as Dillon Bennett crossed the ball over just above the box to the feet of Michael Boyle, but before Boyle could tap the ball in, the Mountain Lions got the ball away from the net. Young Harris fouled the Warriors just above the box to allow Southern Wesleyan to take a free kick. Juan Daniel Rosales sent the free kick in and Matias Garnier headed the ball into the back of the goal to allow the Warriors to tie the game up 1-1. The Mountain Lions maintained their pressure as Ondrej Kopecky took a shot on the net, but his shot ricocheted off the cross bar to prevent Young Harris from regaining the lead. A card in the box allowed Kleinpenning to take a penalty kick goal and regain the lead. Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Brody Schroeder snuck in the ball into the back of the goal off a corner kick to tie the game up once again. However, the Mountain Lions were able to net a goal in the final seconds of the game to win the match in a 3-2 final.

Southern Wesleyan will return to Central, SC on September 27 as they host the Shorter Hawks at 3:30 pm on Childs Field. Prior to the start of the game, the Warriors will celebrate their one senior, Gabriel Melendez. They will return to the road on October 1 as they travel to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. The Warriors will host the University of Mount Olive Trojans on October 4.
