How It Happened

The Warriors attacked the net early as Fancesco Giudice and Oscar Umana each put up shots, but all of their attacks were blocked by the Wolves to prevent the Warriors from taking the early advantage.  Newberry answered as Alex Lopez took a shot that rebounded off of the Warriors to the feet of Jacob Davis.  Davis was able to get the ball past a diving Luke Bramblett to allow the Wolves to score the first goal of the evening.  In the final seconds of the half, Dillon Bennett sent the ball toward the goal, but Charlie Clark collected it to prevent Southern Wesleyan from tying the game up.

Newberry would not back down as Giuseppe Gereau sent the ball toward the net early in the second half.  However, Luke Bramblett was there to pull it up and prevent the Wolves from extending on their lead.  Southern Wesleyan went on the offensive with several shots by Brody Schroeder, Francesco Giudice and Michael Boyle, but none of their attacks would pay off.  The Wolves persisted as Tomas Queiros passed the ball up to Giuseppe who shot it into the goal to extend Newberry's lead to 2-0.  In the final seconds of the half, Gabriel Melendez crossed the ball over to Brody Schroeder who tapped it in the net to put the Warriors on the board.  However, the Warriors fell to the Wolves in a 2-1 final.
