Spartanburg, SC – Southern Wesleyan put up a strong showing in the first cross country race of the season as five ladies finished in the top 100 runners in the Eyeopener XC Invite hosted by USC Upstate on Friday evening.
How It Happened
Freshman Lexie Shenton led the Warriors' field in the first race of the season as her time of 20:33.6 allowed her to secure 70th place. Seconds behind her, Elise Foster took 77th with a time of 20:56.3. Saskia Heydenrych finished in 81st place with a time of 21:06.9.
Anna Maddalena and Freda Ruiz were the next two runners to finish in the Eyeopener XC Invite. Maddalena took 95th with a time of 21:46.4 while Ruiz finished in 100th with a time of 22:03.4. Sophie Chasteen took 119th place with her time of 23:46.3. Alex Johnson wrapped up the field for the Warriors as she finished in 130th with a time of 25:43.7
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will compete in Central, SC on September 19 as they host their home race in the Susan Rouse Invite. They will then travel to Huntsville, AL to take part in the Twilight at John Hunt on September 25.
