Spartanburg, SC – Southern Wesleyan opened up the 2025 Cross Country season by taking second as a team at the Converse Kick-Off.

How It Happened

Finishing just four seconds behind the first place runner, senior Drew Jones led the Warriors as his time of 19:15.82 allowed him to take second.  Kaden Reeder was the next Warrior to finish the race.  Reeder took 17^th with a time of 20:06.49.

Southern Wesleyan's next three runners finished within eight seconds of each other.  Grady Clark took 21^st with a time of 20:21.26.  Ronan O'Neill and Grayson Gillespie followed to take 24^th and 25^th respectively.  O'Neill finished in 20:26.82 and Gillespie claimed a time of 20:29.87.

Caleb Richardson claimed 37^th place with a time of 20:53.06.  Seconds behind him, Dustyn Scruggs took 45^th with a time of 21:02.72.  Taking 71^st in the race was sophomore Alex Howerton who finished in 21:58.02.  Landon Mayfield took 83^rd with a time of 22:17.90.  Wrapping up the field for the Warriors were Nate Hill and John Locke.  Hill took 102^nd place with a time of 23:07.58 and Locke took 118^th place with a time of 24:20.61.

What's Next

The Warriors will travel up to Charlotte, NC on September 20^th to compete in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate.  They will then travel down to Huntsville, AL to run in the Twilight at John Hunt race.
