Kernersville, NC – Southern Wesleyan took third place as a team in the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championship on Friday afternoon with senior Grayson Gillespie leading them with a fifth place individual finish.

How It Happened
Grayson Gillespie finished just seconds behind the first four runners in the Conference Carolinas Championship. His time of 25:55.77 allowed him to take fifth place to earn All-Conference First Team honors. Right behind him were the duo of Grady Clark and Drew Jones. Clark took eighth with a time of 26:03.12 while Jones was just milliseconds behind him with a time of 26:03.70 to take ninth. Both Clark and Jones earned All-Conference Second Team recognition. The Warriors fourth finisher was Kaden Reeder, who's time of 26:43.76 allowed him to take 20th place and earn All-Conference Third Team honors.
Taking 23rd in the Conference Carolinas Championship was Ronan O'Neill who finished with a time of 26:55.76. O'Neill was followed by Dustyn Scruggs who took 45th with a time of 27:48.36. Sophomore Caleb Richardson finished in 46th as he was just three seconds behind Scruggs with a time of 27:51.85. Finishing in 71st place was senior Jesse Sauve with a time of 28:49.97.
Landon Mayfield and Alex Howerton were the next two runners to finish for the Warriors. Mayfield took 93rd place with a time of 29:33.72 and Howerton was right on his heels in 94th with a time of 29:41.13. Nate Hill finished in 117th after crossing the finish line with a time of 31:26.74. Behind Hill were Andre Kelly III and Ethan Marchman. Kelly finished in 128th place with a time of 31:54.56. Marchman followed in 136th with a time of 33:36.39.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will compete in the NCAA Regional in Charlotte, NC on November 8. If they qualify, they will then run at the NCAA National Championship on November 22.
