Central, SC - The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes At-Large honorees in five divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and the College Division.
The College Division is comprised of institutions from two-year colleges, Canadian institutions, and other institutions who are not affiliated with the NCAA and NAIA divisions. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the link here.
Southern Wesleyan was honored as Fianna Steves, Abbey Kovalcik and Lexi Richardson each earned a spot on the Academic All-District At-Large team for Lacrosse.
Reminder that in the At-Large sports category, schools from one division might compete in a different division in a particular sport (i.e, ice hockey), so student-athletes are listed in the DIVISION of their sport, not necessarily in their institution's main NCAA division.
Southern Wesleyan's lone Conference Carolinas All-Conference representative, Fianna Steves, was awarded to the Academic All-District At-Large team after starting in fourteen of the fifteen games she played in. A huge defensive presence for the Warriors, Steves broke the school record in both ground balls in a game (11 against Truett-McConnell on March 11) and ground balls in a season (81). A Criminal Justice major, she received Defensive Player of the Week honors on both March 17 and February 24. The junior from Myrtle Beach, SC also caused 48 turnovers, won 54 draws, scored seven goals and had two assists.
A Physical Education major at Southern Wesleyan, senior Lexi Richardson started in all fifteen games for the Warriors. Richardson, who hails from down the road in Sumter, SC, picked up seven goals and two assists in her final season in the Warrior blue. She also recorded 34 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 13 draw controls.
Fellow senior Abbey Kovalcik also earned a spot on the Academic All-District At-Large team. Also from Sumter, SC, Kovalcik has majored in Exercise Science during her time with the Warriors. She started in all fifteen games for the Warriors as a midfielder and picked up two goals and two assists during the 2025 season. Kovalcik also caused 25 turnovers.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
NCAA, NAIA and College Division Women's At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. The Men's At-Large Teams will be announced on Wednesday, July 9.
