Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel Lions on Friday afternoon in an 18-3 final score.
The Warriors recorded 10 shots with nine being on target in the loss to the Lions. Aleiza Manns had four shots on cage with Rinna Beth Brooker following with two shots on cage. Manns, Brooker and Ella McCowen all scored. Hayley Billings and Mack Moreau had assists.
Southern Wesleyan won five of the draw controls with Mack Moreau having two. The Warriors picked up nine ground balls and caused three turnovers. Helen Posey and Moreau each had two ground balls. Moreau led the team with two caused turnovers. The other caused turnover came from the stick of Rinna Beth Brooker.
Caroline Lark and Ava Lombardi shared some time in cage. Lark started the game off in the cage and recorded three saves. Lombardi played the remaining thirty minutes in cage and had seven saves.

How It Happened
Emmanuel came out quickly as Meghan Jennings was able to get the ball over to Demi Czynski who scored to give them the early 1-0 goal advantage. The Warriors countered as Aleiza Manns collected the draw control and rushed down the field. Manns fired off a shot, but Emily Dawson saved the attack from finding the back of the cage. The Lions struck again with just under thirteen minutes left on the clock as Mikaela Austin scored off a free position attempt. Emmanuel pushed on as Meghan Jennings scored three times in a row to extend the Lions lead to 5-0. Aleiza Manns took another shot on the cage, but once again her shot was thwarted by Dawson.
Emmanuel continued their attacks in the second quarter as Mikaela Austin sent the ball to the back of the cage to extend the Lions lead to 8-0. The Lions forced the clock to run with just twelve minutes left in the quarter as Avery Jennings scored back-to-back goals. Emmanuel went on the attack again as Lexie Lee took a shot on the cage, but Ava Lombardi saved the attack from finding the back of the net. However, their attacks paid off shortly afterwards as Taylor Schubert scored.
The Lions continued to push ahead as Paige Murphy scored early in the third quarter. With just over eleven minutes left in the quarter the Warriors cleared the ball down the field. Lexi Richardson took the ball toward the net and put up a shot. However, Avery Atkins saved her attack from finding the back of the cage. Ava Lombardi defended the cage from another attack by the lines. The Warriors cleared the ball down the field and Rinna Beth Brooker drove to the net and fired off a shot. However, Brooker's shot ricocheted off the post. Hayley Billings picked up the ground ball and quickly flipped the ball over to Aleiza Manns. Manns drilled it into the back of the cage to put the Warriors on the board. Southern Wesleyan was not done as Mack Moreau pulled down the next draw control. Moreau quickly got the ball over to Rinna Beth Brooker who went straight toward the net and scored the second goal of the game for the Warriors.
Emmanuel continued their attacks as Paige Murphy sent the ball toward the cage, but Caroline Lark would not let her shot find the back of the cage. Southern Wesleyan cleared the ball down the field once again, but the Lions would not let the Warriors attacks on the cage pay off. With just over eight minutes left in the game, Taylor Schubert scored once again to extend the Lions lead to 17-2. A foul in the eight meter allowed Rinna Beth Brooker to take a free position shot. However, Avery Atkins saved Brooker's shot from cutting into the Lions lead. Emmanuel was able to put the ball into the cage once again, but Southern Wesleyan continued to put up a fight as Ella McCowen got around the defense and scored. The Lions went on to win the game in an 18-3 final score.
