Cleveland, TN – Merritt Smith broke the school record in the 5000 meters and several other Warriors claimed top ten finishes as the Warriors competed in the Lee Fast Break meet over the weekend.

Track Results
100m: Makayla Wilson took eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.03.
100mh: In the 100 meter hurdles, TraVon Lay took seventh with a time of 14.73.
200m: Makayla Wilson finished in 13th in the 200 meters after she crossed the finished line with a time of 25.95.
800m: Southern Wesleyan was led by junior Kristi Gallaher in the 800 meters. Gallagher took 42nd with a time of 2:28.92. She was followed by Merritt Smith and Macey Morgan. Smith took 52nd with a time of 2:32.32 and Morgan took 58th with a time of 2:36.68.
5000m: Merritt Smith took 41st with a time of 18:28.31 to break the school record.
Field Results
Discus: In the discus, Layla-Grey Bennett took 10th after a throw of 29.95 meters.
Hammer: Layla-Grey Bennett took 11th with a throw of 36.13 meters.
Long Jump: Southern Wesleyan's Makayla Wilson took fifth in the long jump after she cleared a distance of 5.36 meters.
Shot Put: Alexandria Luther took 12th with a throw of 9.53 meters.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will compete in the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championship on April 25-26. They will then travel back to Cleveland, TN on May 10 to take part in the Lee Last Chance meet.
