Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan kicks off outdoor track season with personal records and top ten finishes at home opening Susan Rouse Invitational.

Track Results
5000m: In the 5000 meters, junior Merritt Smith led the whole field as her time of 19:18.09 allowed her to take first. Macey Morgan was the next Warrior to finish as her time of 20:03.27 allowed her to take third. Divinity Ervin wrapped up the field for the Warriors as her time of 21:29.38 allowed her to finish in fifth place.
1500m: Kristi Gallagher took 12th in the 1500 meters after finishing with a time of 5:22.99. Janey Dixon and Freda Ruiz were the next two Warriors to finish. Dixon took 19th with a time of 5:49.89 and Ruiz took 24th with a time of 5:58.87. Susie Stutz finished in 28th with a time of 6:23.84 and Nicole Feagan took 29th with a time of 6:41.05.
100mh: TraVon Lay led the whole field in the 100 meter hurdles. Lay finished with a time of 15.29 to take first.
100m: Southern Wesleyan was led by Kyla Johnson in the 100 meters. Johnson's time of 13.22 allowed her to take ninth. Right behind her, Cianna Laginestra took 10th with a time of 13.23.
200m: Makayla Wilson led the Warriors in the 200 meters as her time of 26.85 allowed her to finish in fifth place. Wilson was followed by Amariah Davis who's time of 28.61 allowed her to take tenth.
Field Results
Javelin: Layla-Grey Bennett led the Warriors in the javelin as her throw of 31.20 meters allowed her to take fourth place. She was followed by Alexandria Luther who took fifth with a throw of 29.61 meters.
Long Jump: In the long jump, Makayla Wilson finished in third place after she cleared a distance of 5.29 meters. Taking eighth in the event was Elana Juarez who jumped 4.04 meters.
Pole Vault: Ava LaBrant won the pole vault on Saturday after she cleared a height of 3.07 meters.
Hammer: The Warriors were led by Alexandria Luther in the hammer throw. Luther threw 37.56 meters to take fourth place.
Discus: Layla-Grey Bennett finished in 14th in the discus after her throw of 21.37m.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Columbia, SC on March 7-8 to compete at Columbia International. They will then travel to Statesboro, GA to compete at Georgia Southern on March 21-22. The Warriors will host the Gotta Run Invite on March 28-29.
