Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan Women's Soccer and Head Coach Al Meneses are excited to announce the initial members of the 2026 signing class. The Warriors will welcome eight players from four states and one international student athlete for the fall 2026 season. Morgan DeSmith, Breena Duffy, Olivia Czelusta, Madison Stanley, Emily Lorenzo, Alicia Ashley, Brynleigh Bennett, and Lucía Fernández will all join the Warriors in August 2026.
"We had a very good and successful 2025 season, making the playoffs for the first time in over 6 years!" mentioned Head Coach Al Meneses. "Our standard for success and expectations to compete have now been elevated. As we continue to make strides developing and building our team into one of the most competitive programs in the Conference Carolinas, we are very excited for 2026, which includes a very talented new incoming class. It gives us great pleasure to introduce several new student athletes into our SWU Warriors family!"
Current James W Mitchell High School alum Bailey Meyer will be joined by three former teammates and soon to be Mustang alums in Morgan DeSmith, Breena Duffy, and Olivia Czelusta.
Morgan DeSmith is the Warriors first signee from the Sunshine State. DeSmith will travel to Central via Trinity, Florida where she played for both James W Mitchell High School and the Florida Premier FC program. A center back and defender, her favorite movie is Tangled and she loves Mac and Cheese. DeSmith's favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 5:10 which reads, "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, an establish you."
Joining DeSmith from Florida is Breena Duffy. Also a native of Trinity, FL, Duffy attended James W Mitchell High School. She played for both the Mustangs and the Tampa Bay United 08 ECNL RL team during her high school career as a midfielder. She loves steak and her favorite movie is Elf. When asked what her favorite quote is, Duffy said, "if you believe in yourself anything is possible."
Olivia Czelusta is the Warriors' third signee from Florida. Hailing from Tampa, FL, Czelusta attended James W Mitchell High School alongside DeSmith and Duffy. She also played alongside fellow signee DeSmith in the Florida Premier FC. A defender, she loves chicken rice bowls and her favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 which reads, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
The Warriors will bring in two players from South Carolina in Madison Stanley and Emily Lorenzo.
Southern Wesleyan will welcome in local product, Madison Stanley, in from Greenville, SC. A forward, Stanley played both for Wren High School and CASA Pride. She loves Mama Mia and her favorite food is steak. When asked what her favorite Bible verse is, Stanley replied with Psalm 56:3 which reads, "when I'm afraid, I put my trust in you."
Emily Lorenzo will come to Central from Pawleys Island, SC. She attended Waccamaw High School and played in both the defense and wing positions for both the Warriors and SC Surf. She loves Mexican food and her favorite movie is Elf. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:3 which reads, "commit to the Lord in whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
Joining the Warriors from Mandeville, Louisiana is Alicia Ashley. Ashley served as a forward for both Mandeville High School and the Mandeville Soccer Club ECNL RL. She loves gumbo and her favorite movie is The Boys in the Boat. When asked about her favorite quote, she said, "you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take."
Southern Wesleyan's lone signee from Pennsylvania is Brynleigh Bennett. Bennett hails from Lehman, Pennsylvania and has more recently attended Chapin High School in South Carolina. She competed as a wing for Chapin, SCUFC and NECAFC. Her favorite food is tacos and she loves to watch the movie, Footloose. When asked about her favorite quote, Bennett said, "He's got the whole world in his hands."
The Warriors will welcome Lucía Fernández from Valladolid, Spain as their lone International signee. Fernández will join the current Warriors goalkeeper from Spain, Ester Carabano, after attending Colegio Nuestra Señora del Lourdes. She played for Atlético Laguna during her high school career where she served as a midfielder. She loves pasta carbonara and her favorite movie is Hasta Cielo. When asked what her favorite quote was, Fernández replied with, "everything happens for a reason."
