How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan went on the offensive early on as Camila Blanco looked to knock the ball into the net.  The Warriors would not relent as a foul just outside of the box allowed Ashley Caballero to take a free kick.  Caballero's shot on the net was knocked away by Laura Walker to keep the Warriors off the board.  Bailey Meyer and Ella Beasley looked to go on the attack, but the Bobcats' defense would not let the Warriors attacks pay off.  Riley Webb drove to the net, but Walker was there to collect the ball before she could get a shot off.  The Bobcats were able to get the first goal of the game on the board as Ainsley Dial crossed the ball over to Kylie Gutierrez who sent the ball into the top part of the net to give Lees-McRae a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.

Lees-McRae came out with a vengeance in the second half as they pressured the Southern Wesleyan defense.  However, the Warriors answered as Camila Blanco crossed the ball into the box looking for Vitallia Benforte.  Before Benforte was able to get the ball in Laura Walker was able to collect it to keep the Warriors off the board.  The Warriors answered as the Bobcats looked to score, but Katelyn O'Neill was able to dive on top of the ball at the last second to prevent Lees-McRae from extending on their lead.  Bailey Meyer drove the ball toward the net, but once again Walker was there.  Brooke Allen drilled the ball toward the net, but Katelyn O'Neill was able to get right in front of the ball to keep the Bobcats from extending their lead.  Lees-McRae's attacks paid off in the end as Brooke Allen was able to score the Bobcats second goal of the game.  A hand ball in the box allowed Karina Pashkovets to take a penalty kick.  Pashkovets got the ball into the net to put the Warriors on the board.  Despite several more looks on the net, the Warriors could not pass the Bobcats as Lees-McRae claimed a 2-1 victory.
