Cullowhee, NC – Southern Wesleyan's throwers competed at the Catamount Classic on Saturday and hit several top marks.
How It Happened
Men's Track and Field
Discus: Freshman Mason Griffiths took 15th in the discus as he threw a distance of 38.44 meters.
Javelin: In the javelin, Braden Shoemaker finished in sixth place as he threw the javelin 47.65 meters. Shoemaker was followed by teammate Mason Griffiths who's throw of 36.27m allowed him to finish in 18th.
Women's Track and Field
Discus: Gracie Wilson led the team in the discus throw as she throw of 37.22 meters allowed her to take seventh place. She was followed by fellow freshman Layla-Grey Bennett who took 14th with a throw of 31.97m.
Hammer: Alexandria Luther threw 34.06m in the hammer throw to take 16th. Just a couple meters behind her, Gracie Wilson took 21st with a throw of 30.61 meters.
Shot Put: In the shot put, Alexandria Luther finished in 17th as she threw 9.52 meters.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC on April 26 and 27 to take part in the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
