Montreat, NC – Ronan O'Neill hits school record in 1500 meters as Warriors hit top marks at Montreat Invitational

How It Happened

Track Results

100m: Southern Wesleyan was led by Dominic Gonzalez in the 100 meters.  Gonzalez finished in 35^th with a time of 11.47.  Solomon Pitts finished in 50^th with a time of 11.75.

200m: In the 200 meters, Dominic Gonzalez took 37^th with a time of 23.76.  Solomon Pitts and Josiah Pitts were the next two Warriors to finish.  The older of the Pitts brothers took 40^th with a time of 23.95.  Josiah Pitts finished in 46^th with a time of 24.32.

400m: Ethan Marchman led the Warriors in the 400 meters as he took ninth with a time of 49.68.  Taking 24^th in the 400, Jaden Warner finished with a time of 52.08.  He was followed by Aziah Gaskin who took 30^th with a time of 53.04.  Josiah Pitts finished in 37^th with a time of 54.95.

400m Hurdles: Freshman Elijah Powell took seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.24.

800m: In the 800 meters, Ronan O'Neill finished in 35^th with a time of 2:01.96.  He was closely followed by Brooks Hovis who took 38^th with a time of 2:02.89.  Josue Avendano was the next Warrior to finish as he took 59^th with a time of 2:09.69.  Thomas Macagg and Malcolm Kibiwot were the next two Warriors to finish.  Macagg finished in 63^rd with a time of 2:11.24 and Kibiwot took 81^st with a time of 2:19.73.

1500m: Ronan O'Neill broke the school record in the 1500 meters as he finished in third place with a time of 4:00.23.  Grady Clark was the next Warrior to finish.  Clark took 20^th with a time of 4:05.67.  He was followed by Drew Jones in 31^st with a time of 4:12.98.  Thomas Macagg finished in 40^th with a time of 4:20.32.  Brooks Hovis and Malcolm Kibiwot were the next two Warriors to finish.  Hovis took 42^nd with a time of 4:20.46 and Kibiwot took 61^st with a time of 4:40.43.

5000m: The Warriors were led by Thomas Macagg in the 5000 meters.  Macagg took 28^th with a time of 16:34.79.  Grayson Gillespie and Landon Mayfield were the next two Warriors to finish.  Gillespie took 32^nd with a time of 16:50.51 and Mayfield finished in 35^th with a time of 17:38.29.

4x800 Meter Relay: The Warriors took third in the 4x800 meter relay as the team of Ethan Marchman, Ronan O'Neill, Drew Jones and Grady Clark finished with a time of 8:01.56.

4x400 Meter Relay: The team of Ethan Marchman, Drew Jones, Grady Clark and Jaden Warner took fourth in the 4x400 meter relay as they finished with a time of 3:27.09.

Field Results

Discus: Mason Griffiths finished in 26^th as he threw a distance of 37.82 meters.

Javelin: In the javelin, Evan Motes took 11^th place after he threw 45.50m.  He was followed by Braden Shoemaker who took 15^th with a throw of 43.20m.

Long Jump: Sam Woods took 20^th in the long jump after he jumped 5.96m.

Triple Jump: Sam Woods took 12^th in the triple jump as he cleared a distance of 11.51m.

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will return to Central, SC on March 29 as they host the Gotta Run Invite.  They will then travel to Anderson, SC to take part in the Electric city Invite.  They will wrap up the regular season on April 19-20 as they take part in the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, NC.
