Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan hosted their first meet of the spring 2024 season on Saturday and had several top finishes.

Track Results
100 Meters: In the 100 meters, Solomon Pitts finished in 10th place with a time of 11.46. Pitts was followed by Dominic Gonzalez who took 12th with a time of 11.60.
200 Meters: Aziah Gaskin led the way for the Warriors in the 200 meters. He finished with a time of 23.20 to put him in seventh. Behind him, Ethan Marchman took ninth with a time of 23.28 and Dominc Gonzalez finished in 11th with a time of 23.74. Josiah Pitts wrapped up the field for the Warriors and finished with a time of 24.00.
400 Meters: Ethan Marchman and Jaden Warner finished seconds apart in the 400 meters. Marchman claimed fourth place after running a time of 50.60 while Warner took fifth with a time of 51.14. Josiah Pitts finished in 12th with a time of 54.98 and Elijah Powell took 14th with a time of 55.33.
400m Hurdles: Freshman Elijah Powell took ninth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:07.13.
800 Meters: Grady Clark led the whole field in the 800 meters as he finished with a time of 1:58.87.
1500 Meters: The Warriors were led by Grady Clark in the 1500 meters. Clark took first place after running a 4:07.07. Right behind him, Ronan O'Neill took second with a time of 4:07.08. Grayson Gillespie and Brooks Hovis were the next to Warriors to finish. Gillespie took sixth with a time of 4:22.38 and Hovis finished in seventh with a time of 4:24.13. Josue Avendano took 15th with a time of 4:39.92 and Landon Mayfield finished in 19th with a time of 4:45.27.
5000 Meters: Ronan O'Neill led the whole field in the men's 5000 meters on Saturday as he finished with a time of 14:54.93. Drew Jones and Thomas Macagg were the next two Warriors to finish. Jones took third with a time of 15:30.18 with Macagg just four seconds behind him in fourth with a time of 15:34.46. Malcolm Kibiwot finished in 11th with a time of 16:49.92.
4x100 Meter Relay: In the men's 4x100 meter relay, the Warriors team of Aziah Gaskin, Solomon Pitts, Dominic Gonzalez and Jaden Warner finished in fourth place with a time of 43.50.
4x400 Meter Relay: Southern Wesleyan had two teams compete in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Ethan Marchaman, Drew Jones, Grady Clark and Jaden Warner finished in second place with a time of 3;25.68. Behind them, the team of Brooks Hovis, Josue Avendano, Grayson Gillespie and Ronan O'Neill finished in fourth with a time of 3:47.33.
Field Results
Hammer Throw: The Warriors were led by Mason Griffiths in the hammer throw as he took fifth with his throw a distance of 27.34 meters.
Long Jump: In the long jump, Sam Woods finished fifth with a jump of 6.02 meters.
Javelin: Braden Shoemaker took down the whole field in the javelin. The freshman threw 44.81 meters to claim his first place finish. Mason Griffiths followed with a throw of 27.90 meters to put him in eighth.
Discus: Mason Griffiths led the whole field in the discus as he threw 37.28 meters. He was followed by Braden Shoemaker in 10th with a throw of 27.16 meters.
Pole Vault: In the pole vault, senior Evan Motes took first after his vault of 4.27 meters.
Shot Put: Freshman Mason Griffiths took 10th in the shot put as he threw a distance of 8.50 meters.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will take part in the John Hunter Classic in Columbia, SC on March 15. They will then travel to Montreat, NC to take part in the Montreat Invitational on March 22-23 before returning to Central, SC on March 29 to host the Gotta Run Invite.
