Sacramento, CA – Southern Wesleyan's Ronan O'Neill finished in the top 60 runners at the NCAA DII Men's Cross Country National Championship earlier today.
Ronan O'Neill advanced to the National stage for the second time in as many years after top performances in both the conference championship and NCAA regional races. A month ago, O'Neill claimed Conference Carolinas Runner of the Year honors after taking the individual title at the Conference Carolinas Championship. In the Southeast Regional a couple weeks ago, he went on to finish ninth to allow him to advance to Nationals once again.
O'Neill came out well as he put himself in the top part of the pack early in the 10K. He continued to push ahead and in the final kilometers he edged up from 69th all the way up to 59th place. O'Neill pushed on as he passed several more runners to end up in 53rd place with a time of 30:46.9.
