Southern Wesleyan Drops Game One to Erskine

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan hosted the Erskine Flying Fleet for game one of the series falling in a 13-2 final score.

The Warriors recorded seven hits in the loss with Devin Patrick leading the team with two.  Patrick had a double.  Tyler Fuller and Sawyer Price had the lone RBIs of the game.  Seven Warriors walked during the game, and Timo Schau and DJ Ludwick both had stolen bases.

Aaron Bennett started game one, pitching three innings while striking out four batters.  TJ McEvilly and Jake Wisniewski came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors.  McEvilly struck out four and Wisniewski struck out three.

How It Happened

The Flying Fleet took flight early in game one of the series as they took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  They continued to push on as they extended their lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the third inning.  DJ Ludwick led off with a walk and then stole second base to put him in scoring position.  With two out, Tyler Fuller singled up the middle to put them down 7-1.

Erskine continued to push their lead further as they plated five more runs in the third and fourth innings.

In the top of the seventh inning, Kole Rogers walked and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.  With Rogers on second and two outs, a wild pitch allowed Rogers to move within ninety feet of home plate.  Tyler Fuller followed with a walk.  With two on, Sawyer Price singled up the middle to bring Rogers in.

Erskine went on to win game one in a 13-2 final score.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will conclude the last two games of the series against the Erskine Flying Fleet in Due West, SC.  The Warriors will then travel to Dahlonega, GA to take on the North Georgia Nighthawks on March 10.  They will remain on the road on March 11 as they take on the Truett-McConnell Bears.
