Warriors Drop Game to Nighthawks

Dahlonega, GA – Southern Wesleyan dropped the non-conference game against North Georgia on Tuesday in a 14-6 final score.

The Warriors recorded six hits in the loss with Ty King Richards leading the team with two hits.  Tyler Fuller doubled and Dawson Posick hit a home run.  Posick led the team with two of the four RBIs.  Seven Warriors walked during the game and Timo Schau had the lone stolen base.  Southern Wesleyan left eight runners on base.

Southern Wesleyan recorded five strikeouts during the loss.  Tanner Glass started the game for the Warriors.  Six Warriors came in to pitch in relief during the game.  Sandy Johnson led the Warriors with two strikeouts.

How It Happened

North Georgia struck early as a single by Arnold brought LeRoy in to score and put the Nighthawks up 1-0 after the first.  The Nighthawks extended their lead to 5-0 on homeruns by Hardigree and LeRoy in the bottom of the second inning.

Southern Wesleyan brought six runs in in the top of the third inning.  Sean Sutay led off by being hit by a pitched and then advanced to second on a single by Ty King Richard.  With two on, Tyler Fuller doubled to center field to bring Sutay in.  A single by Tanner Glass allowed King Richards to come in and then a wild pitch brought Fuller in.  With two outs,  DJ Ludwick reached first on a throwing error that allowed Glass to come in and put the Warriors down one run to the Nighthawks.  With Ludwick on first, Dawson Posick hit a home run over the left center field wall to put the Warriors on top 6-5.

North Georgia countered in the top of the inning to tie the game and then take an 8-6 run advantage.  They continued to challenge the Warriors pitching in the bottom of the fifth as they brought four more runs across home plate.  North Georgia went on to win the game over Southern Wesleyan 14-6.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on March 11 as they travel to Cleveland, GA as they take on the Truett-McConnell Bears.  The Warriors will then host the King Tornado on March 13-14.  Southern Wesleyan will host their annual Military Appreciation Game prior to game one on March 14 with special ceremonies beginning at 11:15 am.  First pitch is set to be at noon.  Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on March 17 as they welcome the Lander Bearcats to Dr. C Keith Connor Field.
