How It Happened

Game One

Emma Collins would triple in the top of the third inning but was unable to score and the contest remained a pitchers duel. In the fourth inning, Clanton led-off with a single, but would not make it home as a fielder's choice by the Pioneers would get her off the bases. Tusculum posted two hits in the bottom of the fourth and would take a 2-0 lead. The Warriors countered in the fifth with two hits of their own, but came up short. Tusculum would go on to win game one, 2-0.

Game Two

The Warriors jumped out in game two with singles from Delaney Byers and Megan New. Southern Wesleyan was unable to score, but the Pioneers tacked on a run in their first at bat. Tusculum scored again in the second inning, but the third through the six would be scoreless for both squads.

In the top of the seventh, New singled and Haley Bertie would step in to run. Ashton Martin then doubled and scored Bertie to put the Warriors on the board. Sequoia Wingfield pinch ran for Martin and would score on a Pioneers fielder's choice. Now tied at 2-2, the game would either go into extra innings or the Pioneers would walk-off. A single from Grampp of Tusculum would score West and give the Pioneers the victory as they won game two, 3-2.
