Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan and Vice President of Athletics Julia Reininga are excited to announce the next head coach for SWU Softball program as Drew Greer. Greer will join the Warriors after having coached softball at multiple levels for the past ten years.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Drew Greer as the new leader of SWU Softball," said Vice President of Athletics Julia Reininga. "Drew is an outstanding fit for the mission of Southern Wesleyan University and is passionate about what we stand for. His commitment to developing and caring for student-athletes, combined with his knowledge of the game and passion for softball, made him a natural fit for our program. I am extremely excited about the future of SWU Softball under Drew's leadership."
Drew Greer joins the Warriors after spending the past three seasons at Piedmont University where he has served as both the assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator for the Lions. While with the Lions, he helped the development of a student athlete who earned both Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. He also coached a player who was named to the Division III All-American team. He helped coach multiple Lions to All-CCS honors. Under his guidance, the Lions' softball program produced the highest team batting average in 10 seasons.
Prior to his time with the Lions of Piedmont University, Greer served as the varsity softball head coach at Elbert County High School in Elberton, GA from 2020 to 2024. He helped lead the program to two Region Championships and two Region Runner-Up finishes. His team had three consecutive Sweet 16 appearances. He received Region Coach of the Year honors twice during that span while transforming a program that had previously struggled to get into post season into a consistent state playoff contender.
From 2017 to 2020, he served as the assistant coach to Stephens County High School's varsity softball program. After college, he served as a volunteer assistant coach to the Emmanuel College Lions' softball team.
Greer graduated from Emmanuel College in 2017 where he earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education.

I want to thank AD Julia Reininga and the administration for believing in me and trusting me to lead this program. I also want to thank my wife and kids for all their love and support.
