Box Score 2 Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the double header against the University of Virginia – Wise Cavaliers on Saturday. They won the first game 3-1 before dropping the second game 6-0.
Southern Wesleyan recorded five hits in the game one victory with Bryson Fowler leading the team with two hits. Ty King Richards had the lone RBI and Tanner Glass was the lone Warrior to walk. Timo Schau, DJ Ludwick and King Richards all stole bases. Devyn Bond started the game went 3.2 innings for the Warriors. Bryson Fowler and Aaron Bennett came in to pitch in relief. The Warriors struck out a combined six batters.
The Warriors recorded five hits in the second game of the afternoon with Timo Schau leading the team with two. Kole Rogers was the lone Warrior to walk during the game and Nolan Steevens stole the only base for Southern Wesleyan. Parker Pillsbury started game two for the Warriors, striking out one batter over two innings pitched. Cole Standifer and Sandy Johnson came in to pitch in relief. Standifer struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings pitched, and Johnson closed out the game with one strikeout.

How It Happened
Game One
Southern Wesleyan attacked early as Timo Schau singled up the middle in the bottom of the first. Schau moved to second on a stolen base, but then an error by the Cavaliers' center fielder allowed him to come in and score and put the Warriors on top 1-0.
The Warriors continued to push ahead in the bottom of the second inning. Bryson Fowler led off with a single to short stop and then advanced to second base on a single through the left side by DJ Ludwick. With two runners on, Ty King Richards singled to right center to bring Fowler home. Then back-to-back stolen bases by King Richards and Ludwick put the Warriors ahead 3-1 to win the game.
Game Two
The Virginia – Wise Cavaliers pressured the Warriors defense early on as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The Cavaliers went on to beat down on the Warriors' defense in the bottom of the third inning as they brought five more runs in to lead 6-0. However, Cole Standifer came in to pitch in relief and shut down the Cavaliers offense to keep them from extending their lead any further. The Cavaliers went on to win the game 6-0.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Dahlonega, GA to take on the North Georgia Nighthawks on February 18 at 2 p.m. They will then open up Conference Carolinas action on February 21-22 as they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to play the Emmanuel Lions.
