"What a great game, hard fought by both teams.  We are all very happy to win in 90 minutes and no overtime, ending that streak!  Again, super proud.  It was not always pretty, but was effective."

How It Happened

USC Aiken pressured the Warriors defense early as Tashiana Kwatowski took a shot, but freshman goalkeeper Sydney Owens defended the net to keep the Pacers from taking an early lead.  Southern Wesleyan challenged right back.  Heily Hernandez passed the ball from center to the left side of the field and the feet of Ashley Romanowski.  Romanowski took the shot from ten yards out to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.  Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure USC Aiken as Madison Woolbert and Romanowski each took shots, however despite their attempts the Warriors kept a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Pacers continued to push the Warriors defense as a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick.  Paige D'Agostin put the penalty kick into the net to allow USC Aiken to tie the game 1-1.  However, Southern Wesleyan challenged right back as Makala Latsch took a shot on the goal that was saved by Madi Banks.  Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge the Pacers, as Ashley Romanowski shot the ball into the net to score her second goal of the game and allow the Warriors to win their third game of the season.
