How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan put up an early attack on the goal as Maya Drew sent the ball in toward the net, but Wynn Wagner was there to prevent the Warriors from getting on the board.  After twenty minutes had elapsed, Caroline Roche got the ball past the Warriors' defense and into the net to give Belmont Abbey the first goal of the game.  Belmont Abbey pressed on as Hanna Doerr and Mya Drinkwater scored seconds apart to extend their lead to 3-0 at halftime.

Belmont Abbey picked up from where they left off as just nine minutes into the second half Caroline Roche netted her second goal of the game.  The Warriors answered as Brianna Gonzalez looked to find the net, but her shot sailed just wide.  With just under twenty left on the clock, Gonzalez got past the defense to score the Warriors lone goal of the evening.  Southern Wesleyan pressed on as Madison Stanley sent the ball toward the net, but Ryleigh Dougherty was able to knock the ball away.  The Crusaders claimed the game in a 4-1 final.
