Warriors Fall To Flying Fleet

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Erskine Flying Fleet in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening.  The Warriors fell 6-0 in game one and 3-1 in game two.

Southern Wesleyan posted two hits in the game one loss.  Maddie Ward and Addie Nugent had the lone hits, with Nugent's being a triple.  Josie Edward started game one and went six innings while striking out four batters.

The Warriors recorded five hits in the loss to the Flying Fleet in game two.  Lexi Thompson led the team with two hits on the afternoon, and Natalie Johnson had a double during the game.  Hunter Hoskins had the lone walk of the game, and Becca White contributed a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt.  Hoskins pitched a complete game and struck out three.

How It Happened

Game One

The Erskine Flying Fleet jumped out early, scoring two on a double in the fourth inning.  They continued to lengthen the difference with runs in the sixth and seventh to win the game 6-0.

Game Two

The Flying Fleet jumped out with runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead over the Warriors.  Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the third.  Natalie Johnson doubled to right field and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Becca White.  On a throwing error by the Erskine catcher, Johnson came in to score to put the Warriors down one.  However, Erskine scored a third run in the sixth to win the game 3-1.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will host their final home series of the 2018 season on April 19 against the Lander Bearcats.  They will then travel to North Greenville on April 21 to take on the Crusaders in their final Conference Carolinas match up of the season.
