Southern Wesleyan Falls to Emmanuel

Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Emmanuel Lions in double header action on Tuesday.  The Warriors lost game one in a 4-0 final and game two 3-1.

Southern Wesleyan's lone hits came off of the bats of Maddie Ward and Natalie Johnson in the game one loss to Emmanuel.  Both Ward and Johnson posted doubles.  Becca White led the team with two of the five walks during the game.  Hunter Hoskins started game one and went five innings while allowing nine hits. 

Becca White and Maddie Ward had the lone two hits in the second game of the series.  Ward brought in the lone RBI for the Warriors when Addie Nugent came across the plate.  Six Warriors walked in the loss and Nugent posted the lone stolen base of the afternoon.  Hunter Hoskins started game two and struck out two over seven innings.

How It Happened

Game One

Emmanuel struck early in the first game of the two game series, taking a 3-0 lead on a home run to left field by Alannah Long.  They went on to win game one in a 4-0 final score.

Game Two

The Lions took the lead early in game two, however the Warriors countered in the top of the fourth inning.  Addie Nugent led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.  With Nugent in scoring position, Maddie Ward singled to left center to bring Nugent in to tie the game.

However, the Lions reciprocated in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead.  They went on to win the game in a 3-1 final score.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to North Georgia to take on the Nighthawks on March 28.  They will then return to Varsity Field to celebrate their seniors on April 6th as they take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
