Warriors Unable to Push Past Saints

Gaffney, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Limestone Saints in 9-1 and 3-0 final scores on Thursday afternoon.

Becca White and Amber Belk posted the lone hits in the game one loss to the Saints.  Belk hit a double to drive in White for the lone RBI and run of the game.  Three Warriors walked and White posted a stolen base.  Southern Wesleyan posted one strikeout during the game.  Lucy Wolff started game one and sophomore Josie Edwards came in to pitch in relief.

Southern Wesleyan's bats were led by Becca White and Hunter Hoskins, posting the lone hits of the game.  The Warriors had two walks and White posted the lone stolen base of the game.  Hoskins pitched a complete game for the Warriors had struck out one while only allowing three runs.

How It Happened

Game One

Limestone charged out of the gate in game one, taking a 7-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan after the first two innings of the game. 

Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the fourth inning.  Becca White singled up the middle to lead off the fourth and then stole second base.  With a runner in scoring postion, Amber Belk came in to pinch hit and doubled down the left field line.  White came in to score to put the Warriors down 8-1.

However, the Saints won the game in five innings in a 9-1 final.

Game Two

Limestone took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  However, Southern Wesleyan's starting pitcher Hunter Hoskins and the Warrior defense kept the Saints from lengthening their lead until the bottom of the fifth inning.  The Saints scored two more runs to win the game 3-0.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on March 24 as they take on the Converse College Valkyries at 1 and 3 p.m.  They will then travel to Emmanuel on March 27 to take on the Lions at 3 and 5 p.m.
