Box Score Mars Hill, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell in a 14-7 final against Mars Hill on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors put up 11 hits in the loss to the Lions. John Garrett, Quinton Bent and Trey Matthews led the team with two hits each. Noah Fritz had a double, and both Trey Matthews and Jesse Getford hit home runs during the game. Jesse Getford led the team with three RBIs while Matthews crossed the plate two times to lead the team. Five Warriors walked during the game.
Southern Wesleyan had 12 strikeouts during the game. Tyler Parry started the game versus the Lions and went two innings while striking out two and allowing four hits. Josh Core came in to pitch in relief and led the team with six strikeouts during the game. Kyle Cook-McCrary, Vinny Adams, Aaron Bennett and Daniel Singleton all came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
The Lions surged on back-to-back home runs to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. They lengthened their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth, the Warriors countered. Quinton Bent led off with a single through the left side and then advanced to second on a single by Trey Matthews. With runners on first and second, Jesse Getford hit a home run to left field to allow the Warriors to tie the game 3-3. Devin Patrick followed with a walk and then a double to center field by Noah Fritz put Patrick at third base. With two on, John Garrett singled up the middle to bring Fritz and Patrick in to put the Warriors up 5-3.
Mars Hill put up one more run in the bottom of the fifth. The Warriors pushed their lead back to two runs in the top of the sixth on a home run over the center field wall by Trey Matthews.
In the bottom of the sixth, Mars Hill put up two more runs to tie the game 6-6. After a thirty minute rain delay, the Lions took a 13-6 run lead. The Lions won the game in a 14-7 final.

Southern Wesleyan will next return home to take part in a three game series against the North Greenville Crusaders on March 23-24.
