Box Score Cleveland, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell in a heart breaking loss to the Truett-McConnell Bears in an 8-7 final.
Southern Wesleyan posted nine hits in the loss to Truett-McConnell. Quinton Bent led the team with three hits on the afternoon. Bent had two doubles during the game while Julio Justo had one. Jesse Getford hit a home run during the game. Two Warriors posted two RBIs during the game and Jesse Getford led the team with two runs. Devin Patrick had three walks during the game and John Garrett had a stolen base.
The Warriors posted six strikeouts in the loss to the Bears. TJ McEvilly started the game for the Warriors and went three innings while striking out one batter. Tyler Rio, Roth Mathews, Kyle Cook-McCrary and Aaron Bennett came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first against the Truett-McConnell Bears in the top of the second inning. Jesse Getford reached first on an error by the left field and then advanced to second when Devin Patrick reached on a walk. Noah Fritz followed with a walk to load up the bases. With the bases load, John Garrett singled to left field to bring both Getford and Patrick in to put the Warriors a 2-0. Garrett stole second to put both runners in scoring position. Trey Matthews struck out swinging, however, Fritz came in to score and Garrett advanced to third on the play. Izzy Martinez reached on an error by the pitcher to bring Garrett in to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Warriors increased their lead. Conner Ewing led off, reaching first base on a walk. Jesse Getford followed with a home run over the left field wall to allow the Warriors to take a 6-0 lead.
The Bears countered in the bottom of the fourth. They came within two of the Warriors in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Southern Wesleyan pushed their lead to 7-4 in the top of the seventh. Quinton Bent led off with a double to left. Jesse Getford and Devin Patrick reached on back-to-back walks to load up the bases. With the bases loaded, AJ Canine singled to right to bring Bent in to score.
However, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Truett-McConnell took the lead to win the game 8-7.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next take on the North Georgia Nighthawks on March 14 at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans on March 16 and 17.
