Box Score 2 Albany, GA – Southern Wesleyan split the Albany State. The Warriors fell 1-5 in game one, but came out to beat the Golden Rams 5-0 in game two.
Southern Wesleyan had four hits in game one. Josie Edwards had the lone RBI and run for the Warriors off of her first home run of the season. Maddie Ward had the only walk. Josie Edwards came in to pitch game one and struck out three. Lucy Wolff came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors.
Southern Wesleyan had nine hits in the victory over Albany St. Megan New and Hunter Hoskins led the team with two hits apiece. Hoskins hit her first home run of the season. New led the team with two RBIs. Becca White had the lone walk and Grace McGuffin hit a sacrifice bunt. White, New, Kassidy Hamrick and Natalie Johnson all had stolen bases. Hunter Hoskins pitched the complete game for the Warriors and had six strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
Albany State struck first on a homerun by Russell in the bottom of the third inning. However, a home run by Josie Edwards in the top of the fifth inning allowed the Warriors to tie the game 1-1. The Golden Rams pulled ahead to win the first game 5-1.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the top of the first inning. Becca White reached first on an error by the pitcher and then advanced to second on a single by Lexi Thompson. White went on to steal third. Megan New then singled to bring both Thompson and White home to give Southern Wesleyan a 2-0 lead over Albany State.
Hunter Hoskins pushed the Warriors to 3-0 in the top of the second on a solo homerun. In the top of the third inning, Southern Wesleyan attacked again. Maddie Ward hit a single up the middle and then advanced to second on a single by Kassidy Hamrick. With runners on first and second, Natalie Johnson hit into a fielder's choice that took Hamrick off the base pads and put runners at the corners. An error by the catcher allowed both Ward and Johnson to come in and score allowing the Warriors to take a 5-0 lead to win the second game.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Georgia Southwestern to take on the Canes on February 17. The Warriors will then travel to Young Harris to take on the Mountain Lions on February 21.
