Coach Gillespie Says...

"Proud of the way we battled back in the later innings to put us in position to extend the game in the ninth.  We just left a few too many runners on early in the game and Anderson had some key hits as well."

How It Happened

The Anderson University Trojans struck first, taking a 2-0 lead over the Warriors in the bottom of the second inning.  They lengthened their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning, and then 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

Southern countered to score their first two runs in the top of the sixth inning.  Conner Ewing was the first Warrior to reach when he walked to take first base.  Ewing advanced to second when Quinton Bent walked.  With runners on first and second, Andrew Falgiano doubled down the left field line to bring both Ewing and Bent home to cut the Trojans lead to 5-2.

In the top of the eighth inning, Andrew Falgiano led off with a walk and then advanced to second when Jason Moldenhauer walk.  Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch.  With runners in scoring position, Izzy Martinez walked to load the bases and bring Christian Ketchup up to play.  Ketchup hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Falgiano home.  John Garrett followed ketchup with a single to short stop to bring Moldenhauer home to score the last run for the Warriors and make the score 5-4.
